Why is important Geometry?

My first entry is about Geometry. The terms Geometry comes from the Greek ( Earth + measurement)

According to different resources Geometry is:

- It is a branch of mathematics that deals with the study of the properties of figures in the plane or space, 1 including: points, lines, planes, polytopes (including parallel, perpendicular, curves, surfaces, polygons, polyhedra, etc.).

- Geometry is a part of mathematics that is responsible for studying the properties and measurements of a figure in a plane or space. In order to represent different aspects of reality, geometry appeals to so-called formal systems or axiomatics and notions such as lines, curves and points, between others.

- It is the study of the properties and magnitudes of the figures in the plane or in space.

As you can see Geometry has lots of definition, but, in general could be the study of the measurement and the figures in a plane or space.  Also, I am sure that you are thinking Why you are talking about this? 

Because, even we do not think about this usually, Geometry is around us. 

For this reason, since we are younger we need to understand this. Everything around us is composed by Geometric things. 

Then, I am going to talk about different characteristic and curious things about that. In order to make you understand why Geometry is important. 

From my point of view, Geometry is important because since the first moment we are in contact with it, maybe, we do not know but we are learning mathematic without realizing it. 

- We can find Geometry in nature and in the constructions. 

- We can find Geometry the daily life, for example, in the food, in books, clothes, traffic lights, in the sports… As I said before, Geometry is an important part of our lives, even we do not see it, so we need to know why is so important. 

- Also we can find in arts: 

1. La Alhambra in Granada is decorated based on this. The builders took the importance of symmetry and leaving nothing blank. We can see different mosaics make of geometric figures. 

For example we can see different types of mosaics: azulejos con forma de huesos, pajaritas nazaríes, sello de Salomón. 

2. Different artists as the graphic artist D.C. Escher, who was a graphic artist who made mathematically- inspired woodcuts, lithographs and mezzotints. His work features mathematical objects and operations, for example: infinity reflection, perspective,hyperbolic geometry.
