The Golden number

Now, I am going to talk about a curiosity of Geometry.

Have you ever listened what The Golden number is? This post is going to talk about it.

The Golden ratio o Golden number is an irrational number, represented by a Greek letter  Φ in honor of the Greek sculptor Phidias, who was one of the famous sculptor of Athens. His most famous works were the statue of the goddess Athena of the Parthenon (Athena Partenos) and the statue of Zeus at Olympia.

The Golden number is an irrational algebraic number (its decimal representation has no period) that has many interesting properties and that was discovered in antiquity, not as an arithmetic expression, but as a relation or proportion between two segments of a line, that is, a geometric construction. It is represented in the rectangle: as the DNI, whiteboard, TV… And it has the following characteristic.

For this reason we are talking about it in this blog, we can find this proportion in some geometric figures.
The Golden number is other thing that is around is, in our daily life and we do not appreciate it.

If in a golden rectangle we divide the length of the long side between the length of the short side it is equivalent to the golden number.

The Vitruvian Man or Study of the ideal proportions of the human body is a famous drawing accompanied by anatomical notes of Leonardo da Vinci made around the year 1490.

It represents a naked male figure in two superimposed positions of arms and legs and inscribed in a circumference and a square.

It is a study of the proportions of the human body, made from the texts of architecture of Vitruvius, architect of ancient Rome, of which the drawing takes its name.

I am going to talk a video in which you can learn perfectly what is it.
